The next week was hectic

The next week was hectic.  Tae did bring over things from his apartment almost every day.  They were both happy in the small ways that seemed to signal things were more settled and real.

With the end of the year approaching Tae felt his work responsibilities double.  His hours were much longer than he would like, but Sky had settled into a routine that was comfortable for her.

She wrote and drew, taking long afternoon walks to explore or connect with the earth.  She still liked to sit in the courtyard until the chill or Tae's approach drove her inside.

The morning of her appointment with YoonGi found her a bit unsettled.

Tae had been up early for a teleconference on the Paris project.  He held and kissed her and promised everything would be fine before leaving her in the pre-dawn darkness, their bed cold and lonely without him.

She was able to drift into fitful sleep and she awoke with her alarm to sunlight and a sweet text from Tae.

Determined to make it a good day, she picked through her clothes until she found a grey and burgundy plaid skirt and matching turtleneck and coat.  As she searched her closet, she found the grey suede boots Tae had picked out and a grey wool beret with a flower pin.  She debated wearing it or not, but once she tried it on, she felt a boost of confidence with her head covered.  Plus, as she smiled into the mirror, she could not help but hear Tae's sweet voice calling “so cute".

She gathered her files and headed to the address on the appointment letter she had received earlier in the week.

Taehyung had insisted on sending a driver for her. He tried to free up his afternoon to escort her, but he really could not get away.  She was relieved she would not have to find her way on her own.

She made it to the imposing office building more quickly that she anticipated.  Before her nerves kicked up another notch, she found herself stepping off the elevator into the chrome and glass office.

The entrance was cold and intimidating.  The bored stare of the receptionist had her touching the wool on her head, second guessing the hat, the shoes, the appointment.

She took a deep breath and stepped up to the desk.

“I am Sky.  I am here to see Min YoonGi,” she said quietly.  The girl rolled her eyes and flipped through an appointment book.

Sky bit her lip as she felt tears threaten.  She hated the way girls like this made her feel.

“Sky?” she repeated loudly.  Sky nodded, considering leaving right then.

“Sky?” she turned as she heard her name called.  The voice was low and husky, immediately drawing her attention.

As she turned, she swallowed hard and knew she had made a mistake coming here.  Calling her name was a gorgeous woman.  Her dark hair was pulled up off her oval face.  She was wearing a black dress that was sophisticated and classic, hugging her hourglass figure to perfection.
