y/n had always known that transferring from a special school to a normal high school would be a challenge. as a blind girl, she was used to the stares and whispers that followed her wherever she went. but the constant pity and sympathy from her new classmates was something she had never experienced before.

every day, y/n would hear whispers of "poor girl" and "how does she manage?" as she walked down the hallways. many would offer to help her with her books or guide her to her classes, but y/n was determined to prove that she could do things on her own.

haerin was one of the few who didn't seem to understand why people were so kind to y/n. she would often glare at those who went out of their way to help her, wondering why they would bother.

"she just can't see, it's not like she can't do anything," haerin muttered as she watched a classmate help y/n pack her bag.

later that day, haerin caught sight of y/n trying to cross the road. she watched as y/n stepped onto the road, slowly trying to make her way across.

just then, a car suddenly honked loudly, startling y/n. she froze in place, not knowing which way to go. haerin quickly ran towards y/n, shouting out her name. y/n turned towards haerin's voice, relieved to hear her classmate's familiar voice.

haerin quickly took y/n's hand and guided her across the street safely. y/n breathed a sigh of relief and felt a rush of gratitude towards haerin for being there for her in that moment of danger.

"thank you."

"it's nothing. you should be careful," haerin coldly replied.

"still, i must be grateful that you saved me," y/n replied with a smile.

"uhm... okay," haerin said, feeling weird about the moment. "get home safe," she patted y/n's shoulder and turned to leave.

"i will," y/n answered, and slowly continued walking.

as haerin walked, she felt uneasy letting y/n go alone. but at the same time, she did not want to seem overbearing or intrusive.

she then turned back again and spotted y/n walking. she silently walked behind y/n, keeping a distance and watched as y/n navigated her way.

she could hear y/n mumbling about the sounds and smells, and couldn't help but smile at how cute it was. "cute."

haerin was surprised by her own thoughts. she had never seen y/n as cute before, but in that moment, she couldn't help but feel a warm, fuzzy feeling in her chest.

when y/n finally arrived at her house, haerin watched from a distance as she fumbled with her keys and opened the door. she waited until y/n had safely entered her house before turning to leave.

as the weeks went by, haerin would follow y/n to ensure her safety. she would make sure y/n enters her house before leaving.

haerin's routine of following y/n and making sure she was safe became a regular part of her day. she would often walk a few steps behind y/n, keeping her distance but always keeping an eye on her.

and every day, when y/n arrived at her house, haerin would make sure that she had safely entered before turning to leave. it became a routine that both haerin and y/n grew accustomed to, and it brought them closer together.

as time passed, haerin's feelings for y/n continued to grow stronger. she found herself thinking about y/n all the time, wondering what she was doing and how she was feeling. she even started to dream about y/n at night, waking up with a racing heart and a sense of longing.

haerin knew that her feelings for y/n were complicated. she didn't want to treat y/n differently because of her disability, but at the same time, she couldn't deny the way that y/n made her feel.

but then, one day, y/n announced that she would be moving overseas to receive treatment for her condition. haerin felt her heart sink at the news. she knew that it was the best decision for y/n's health, but she couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness at the thought of y/n leaving.

as the last day of school approached, haerin found herself following y/n more closely than ever before. she didn't want to miss a single moment with her. she watched as y/n said goodbye to her classmates and teachers, feeling a sense of longing in her chest.

as she walked behind y/n, haerin felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. she knew that this would be the last time she would see y/n for a long time, and it hurt her to think about it.

when they arrived at y/n's house, haerin watched as y/n fumbled with her keys and opened the door. when y/n finally her house, haerin quietly mumbled to herself, "i love you, y/n."

she quietly slipped a letter into the mailbox and quickly walked away.

as she walked, tears streaming down her face, haerin couldn't help but think about what could have been. she knew that y/n would never feel the same way about her, but she couldn't help but hold onto the hope that someday, maybe, things would be different.
