Chapter 55: Dead angels

Aya was standing in the doorway to the pool room when Davina arrived to join her.

She stoped dead in her tracks and gaped in horror when she realized what Aya was staring at.

Ariane's dead body was laying on the floor outside of the pool, her blonde hair soaked with blood from Elijah feeding on her.

"What happened to her?" Davina asked Aya, rushing over to the seemingly dead body of the witch Ariane.

"This is what befalls anyone who bargains with Elijah Mikaelson. Ariane discovered the weapon that can kill an Original. And since Elijah would never allow anyone to possess so deadly a secret..." Aya paused, surprised to see the saddened expression on the witch's face "He killed her."

"She was nice to me." Davina sadly brushes a lock of hair off of Ariane's face.

"Then perhaps you won't mind spending a little more time together."

As Aya spoke, the rest of the Sisters entered the room, two at a time, their usual black hooded cloaks masked their faces.

One of them in particular, a young, round-faced woman with long black hair, gives Davina a curious look.

"You and the others will channel her, search her mind, and find the weapon." Aya informed the Sisters, whom all began to kneel around the body of the fallen witch.

"That's a little disrespectful to the dead, don't you think? Not to mention dangerous." Davina scoffed, looking worried, lowers her voice slightly "If Elijah finds out..."

"I know better than you how dangerous Elijah can be. And yet, as he is my sire, my life and the lives of the Strix are tied to his."

Aya gave her a menacing glare, stepping forward so they're almost nose to nose.

She brushed Davina's hair behind her ears in a threatening gesture.

Davina instinctively flinched away from her touch as Aya speaks in a mockingly friendly voice.

"So, I will not rest until that weapon is found."

Davina does not look happy as she watched Aya leave the room.
