Sitting in her boring biology class, Y/N tapped her fingers against the desk in utter misery. Well, utter misery was an exaggeration, but she was losing her mind out of boredom. The teacher was quite a drag which made biology a hard subject, meaning Y/N had to learn most of it in her free time anyway. Wasting an hour in the horrible-smelling unproductive room was not a good way to spend time.

"...and also, you all must complete a partner project on a subject of your choice. It should take about four hours and is due at the end of the week," the teacher said, snapping Y/N out of her thoughts with a jolt, "I have chosen the partners accordingly with people I believe you will work well with."

Glancing at her long time crush sat across the room, Y/N prayed that he would be the one selected for her. Unfortunately, he wasn't.

"...Y/N, you will be with C/B/N," the teacher read from a list, "And finally, C/N, you will be with B/N."

Feeling a pair of eyes on her, she looked in the direction to see no one looking. She frowned, but brushed it off with a sigh and gathered together both her exercise books and textbooks. Dawdling over to the next desk over, she stood in front of C/B/N with her arms crossed. "So, what subject should we do?"

"I was thinking about doing the plant reproductive system," he said with a smile, "It's simple and easy to present, but if we use lots of fancy words we should be able to get a good grade."

"Alright," Y/N pulled up a stool, "Let's divide it into four sections: the introduction, the explanation, the example and the conclusion."

C/B/N nodded, taking notes in his book, "Should we take two parts each?"

"I'll do the introduction and the example," she replied, "For the example I'll probably just get a plant and dissect it in front of the class."

"Right, I'll do the explanation and conclusion then. Wanna come to mine after school to make sure our ends meet?"

Y/N agreed, just as the bell rang signifying the end of class and the end of the day. The feeling of someone staring at her returned once more, making her paranoid as she walked out the class. She remained alert all the way to her locker, where she grabbed everything she needed to take home.

C/B/N met up with her at the school gates, allowing them to walk down the road to his house together.

They worked on the project for two hours, and managed to complete half of it successfully before agreeing to complete it fully the next day. Instead of heading straight home, Y/N stopped by B/N's which was on the way. Her father let her in with a friendly greeting before directing her upstairs.

Just as Y/N was about to knock on the door, she caught a bit of C/N's voice saying, "...and will you be my, uhm, girlfriend?"

Her heart dropped, but she knocked nonetheless while holding back tears that were threatening to pour out. "Oh, Y/N!" B/N grinned, giving a nervous glance towards C/N, "We were just talking about you."

"It didn't sound like it..." Y/N said, her voice evidently cracking, to her displeasure. It wasn't fair she let slip her own feelings about the situation: that was selfish.

"...How much did you hear exactly...?" B/N said slowly, worry etched on to her face.

"The part where C/N asks you out."

C/N sighed desperately with his cheeks tinting pink, "I wasn't asking her out!"

"Didn't sound like it..."

"I was... I was..." he stood up, taking a couple steps towards Y/N before mumbling, "I was practicing asking you out..."

Y/N's jaw dropped. Words failing her as she flailed her arms about, pointing at herself with crystal clear shock lacing her expression. Eventually, she managed to choke a single word out, "...Me...?"

"Yes, you," he said exasperatedly, "It's always been you. I wanted to be partnered with you for this project and it hurt so much to see C/B/N get that pleasure. The truth is, I like you, Y/N. I like you a lot."

"...I like you a lot, too," she mumbled, "I also wanted to be partnered with you."

"Guys, not to ruin the moment but this is a little awkward for me," B/N spoke up, "So, can we say you're both finally dating and call it a day?"

Y/N smiled up at C/N, feeling confident knowing her feelings were reciprocated, "Yeah... I think we can."
