*4 years back*

Varsha was just finished with her graduation and wanted to pursue post graduation. She wanted to become a professor.

But she didn't know she was in for a big shocker.

She reached home one evening and saw some guests over. She smiled politely at them and asked her mother through her eyes who they were.

Her mother took her to her room and took out a beautiful suit from her almirah.

"Ye pehn kr ready ho jaa. Tere sasuraal wale hai."

She said making Varsha look at her with shock.

"What do you mean? Mere sasuraal waale? Maine shaadi ke liye haan kab kri maa? Aur rishta kab pakka hua?"

Her mother smiled slightly and cupped her face.

"Mai jaanti hu humne tujhse nhi puchha. Lekin rishta bhut achha hai beta. Log bhut paise waale hai. Bhut khush rakhenge tujhe."

Varsha couldn't believe it. Her mother was preferring money over her daughter's consent.

"Paise? Meri consent ke aage aapko paise dikh rhe hai? Mai ye shaadi nhi krungi mumma. Wapas bhej do inhe."

She said adamantly and sat on the bed. She was so angry. At her parents. How can they even think of doing this without her consent.

She had so many dreams. She was just 21 for God's sake.

"Varsha. Beta bahar aaye huye hai wo. Aise kaise bhej du. Ek baar bahar aa jaa. Rude lagta hai beta. Please. Inke jaane ke baad baat krenge na. Please mera bachha."

How could she have denied her mother's sweet voice now. Only if she did deny.

She sighed and picked up the suit. Changing into it and correcting her appearance she went down with her mother.

She smiled at the guests or at least tried to. Her mother made her sit beside her.

The bell rang and her mother went to check but came back empty handed.

Who was at the door? Varsha still wondered.

The people left after saying that they liked Varsha a lot. Varsha tried not to roll her eyes. She wasn't marrying anyone this early.

"Papa! Mai shaadi nhi krungi."

She declared as soon as they went. Her father looked at her sharply. She wasn't really close to her father but she knew he loved her.

"Log bhut achhe hai. Financially bhi achhi condition hai. Baar baar nhi aate aise rishte. Humne haan kr di hai."

Varsha couldn't believe it. Was it her father saying it.

"Papa! Mai abhi sirf 21 saal ki hu. Abhi mujhe bhut kuch krna hai. What about my dreams and everything. Aur paise matter nhi krte mere liye."

Her father now glared at her.

"Kya krna hai aapko aisa?"

He taunted and she fumed in anger.

"Masters krni hai mujhe. Professor banna hai."

Her father seemed angry.

"Kisne bola aap masters kr skti hai? Aur rahi baat professor ki toh shauk badalte rehte hai sabke. Aaj se aapka shauk aur aapki naukri aapka pati hoga. Jo humne pasand kr lia hai. Do mahine mai shaadi hai aapki."

He declared making Varsha yell at him in anger but in vain.

She tried to stop the marriage but her parents didn't listen a word she said.

"Anaisha! Yaar kya kru mai? Kuch samajh nhi aa rha. Ye toh meri life barbaad kr denge."

She cried and Anaisha rubbed her back. Before she could have said something they heard.

"Koi life kharab nhi krega aapki Varsha."

It was her fiance. Having spent quite a number of years in UK he had a thick accent.

"I am not going to cage you with me. You are free to pursue whatever you want to. Aap masters krna chahti toh kriye. No one will stop you I promise."

He said making Varsha look at him in hope.

"Sach mai?"

She asked wiping her tears and the man smiled and nodded. She smiled and that was how he had made a place in her heart unknowingly.

In less than a month they got married and Varsha was happy this time. She didn't argue, she didn't fight. Although she was upset with her parents about how they did all this without her initial consent but she was happy now.

As promised Akshay did enroll her in the masters degree she wanted to.

He was so nice to her that she couldn't help but fall in love with him. He was what you could call the perfect husband.

Respectful, understanding, loving and caring. He was everything Varsha or any girl could have wanted in their husband.

Although she wasn't able to spend time with him since he was mostly in UK for business.

He said that he would take her with him once she finishes her studies and she trusted him.

It was one such evening when she was over call with him because he was still in UK.

"Akshay! Kab wapas aayenge aap? I miss you."

She did miss him. Terribly. He had been gone for almost two weeks now. It had been a month to their marriage and she had to stay away from him. But it was her studies.

"Abhi kaam hai yaha. But I promise I'll come early."

She heard some noises from behind him and frowned. Did he have company?

"Is someone there?"

She asked and he replied.

"Umm-haan-wo actually I have some important clients here."

"Oh I am sorry. Mai baad mai call krti hu. Bye."

She said and disconnected the call. She slumped on the bed with a goofy smile. She was in love with her husband. And she was going to confess it soon.

Only if she knew how badly he was going to hurt her. Only if she knew she would get only pain loving him.

For he was never hers.

It was a little after 3 weeks of him being gone that she was informed he was coming back two days later.

She was sp happy and excited. The smile on her face was not wavering at all.
