"Papa ko pta hai?"

She asked in a slow whisper and he closed his eyes.

"He was the one who got the call."

Tanya closed her eyes trying to control her tears. Parth clenched his jaw thinking that she was crying for the bastard who couldn't be courageous enough to inform his family about his love affair.

"He must be so devastated. Pta nhi kaise cope kr rhe honge wo. Why are you taking me to the venue then. Take me home. To papa."

She said raising her voice a little and he looked away.

"There's no one home. Everyone's at the venue."

She looked at him surprised.

"Why is everyone there?"

"They have a baarat to welcome Tanya."

He said starting the car again and driving in the venue's direction.

"Baarat? Parv ran away. There's no baarat now."

She said to which he didn't reply. It was then that she noticed what he was wearing. Her breath wavered and she asked in a low whisper.

"Parth? Aapne -aapne ye -ye sherwani kyu pehni hai?"

He didn't reply and she repeated her question.

"Kyunki aaj meri shaadi hai Tanya."

She looked at him teary eyed and shook her head.

"Don't do this! Please!"

"We have no other option."

He said helplessly.

"I don't want you to marry me out of sympathy."

She yelled trying to control her sobs but he just drove silently. Tears clogging his throat.

She would never love me.

He is marrying me out of pity.

Tanya couldn't do anything apart from sob in her father's chest as soon as she reached the venue.

During her Kanyadaan when her father gave her hand into Parth's, their eyes met. Hundreds of unsaid emotions swirling in them. Her lashes wet with unshed tears made her look beautiful. He had always loved her eyes. But he didn't like when she cried out of sadness.

The eye contact was maintained as he tied the Mangalsutra around her neck and also when he filled her hairline with vermillion.

He lifted his thumb to wipe the little pinch that fell on her nose when his mother stopped him.

"Nhi! Shubh hota hai. Naak pr sindur girna."

Parth looked at her red nose and whispered softly.

"Photos kharab aayengi uski."

That made everyone around him aww at him making his ears turn pink. Tanya's cheeks also got warm due to shyness.

"Arre pagle. Photo kharab nhi hogi. Glow dekh uske chehre par."

His mother was right. The moment he had filled the vermillion in her hair a healthy glow formed on her face. And he felt his chest fill with happiness. She was his now.

Tanya couldn't meet his eyes due to shyness which he assumed to be her discomfort and his smile diminished.

"Are we done?"

He mumbled and her smile and mood fell. He didn't want to be here another minute. She felt like she would cry any moment. Not because she was leaving her family. But because the man she loved is never going to love her back.

Two days later, after every post wedding ritual was done, it was Tanya and Parth's wedding night. And she was dreading this.

Last night she slept in her mother-in-law's room so she was carefree. But from now on she was going to be in the same room as him.

Her mother-in-law took her to his room. She was thankful the room wasn't decorated.

"Mujhe pata tha ki bhut awkward ho jaayega agar maine kuch over kia toh. Isliye bas ye scented candles jalai hai."

Her mother-in-law said and Tanya turned to her with a grateful smile.

"Khush rho hamesha."

She blessed Tanya and left the room. Tanya looked around and sighed.

Before she could take a step ahead the door behind her was opened again and Parth entered making both of the freeze on their spots.

She didn't like this. She liked how they were before all this marriage fiasco. She liked how comfortable she was with him since always and how he has always treated like the same way.

But now everything had changed. He had to marry her forcefully.

Parth cleared his throat and said.

"Umm-I think you should change. It's quite late."

She nodded without a word and went to the washroom to change her clothes.

When she came back he had already blown out the candles and her mood fell further.

"Ye kyu bhujaye?"

"Wo raat ko jala kr nhi sote. Accident ho skta hai."

He mumbled and then went towards his almirah. He took his clothes and towel and said.

"I'll be back after taking a shower. Tum so jaao."

She continued to look at him until he locked the door behind him and then sighed.

She didn't want him to behave this way. Like he didn't even want to look at her.

She laid on one corner of the bed leaving ample space for him and covered herself with the duvet.

Her heartbeat increased every minute that she waited for him. 20 minutes later she heard the bathroom door being opened and she shut her eyes pretending to be in a deep sleep.

She heard a lot of shuffling in the room and 5 minutes later she heard the light being switched off. She opened her eyes and adjusted to the darkness.

He wasn't beside her on the bed. She sat up and saw his silhouette on the couch. She frowned. Why did he lay there?

"Parth?"

She heard him hum and she asked.

"Aap waha kyu lete hai?"

There was no reply. She repeated her question.

"Parth? Yaha bed pr bhut jagah hai. Mai ek side pr hu. Aap aaram se aa skte hai."

"It's okay Tanya. Tum aaram se so jaao. I am fine."

"Lekin Parth-"

"I am fine here Tanya. Good night."

He said cutting her off and she felt like crying. Why did he marry her if he wanted to behave like this.
