Elena POV

I woke with a dreaded feeling of guilt. I had to make it up to Tyler, and for fuck's sake, I needed to forget about Ryker's large hands on my body.

"I love his tender touch, sweet kisses, and loving eyes. I do not want to be groped with rough hands or kissed with a dominating tongue or feel his large hard—"

"Oh, Princess, I didn't mean to interrupt you. It's almost time for breakfast and I wanted to get your hair ready." Helena said. She was an older woman in her fifties and had been my head maid since birth.

"I'm sorry, Helena. I was just remembering a poem I read once." I let out a nervous giggle with a blush.

What is wrong with me? The more I told myself not to think of something, the more I did. Stupid how the brain worked that way.

"No worries, I barely heard what you said, Princess. Where is your handmaid? You should be dressed." Helena asked, grabbing a white sundress from my closet.

I just remembered Serenity slept next to me and I ripped her blanket off, hitting her in the back. It would not be tolerated to share a room with a servant, but Helena was the only other person that would enter my room unannounced. She knew how close we were.

Helena was the closest person to a mother figure I had. My actual mom put on a pleasant face, but I always knew she didn't care to have any bond with me. My mother, my Luna, wanted strong boys so the pack would have protection. Alpha boys to keep the bloodline safe and alive was basically a fucking motto for us wolves.

My mother, Theresa, was attacked by Rogues and couldn't have any more children after me. I was nothing but a reminder of how she failed her husband and pack. Since my mother marked my father, he couldn't have other women, not that it would matter anyway. Any illegitimate child wouldn't carry the Luna blood.

Despite the rules suggesting that Alphas are more important, everyone knew that an Alpha and Luna were equal.

I'm sure I didn't know all my parents' frustrations, but I knew I was a disappointment to them. I spent my whole life trying to be the proper princess, but also smarter and stronger than any of the boys.

I hit Serenity again, seeing Helena's growing annoyance. "Argh! What do you want, hoe?" She yelled, wrapping herself back in the blankets.

I giggled at her bluntness. "Get up, bitch. We've got royalty duties to tend to."

Helena gave us both a disappointed sigh.

"Go dress yourself. You're not a toddler for fuck's sake, Your Majesty." Serenity covered her head with her pillow. She was never much of a morning person, but after last night's affairs and only three hours of sleep, she obviously wasn't in the mood.

Helena clicked her tongue in disapproval but continued to lay out my dress. "Serenity Everwood, get your ass out of bed and get your future Queen ready. You girls better mind your manners. If anyone ever heard her talk to you like that, she would be killed before you could open your pretty little mouth to object," Helena reprimanded us.

"Sorry, Mrs. Helena," we both said, giving her sad eyes.

"Don't pout at me, it doesn't work. Now go get dressed so I can do your hair. Oh, and Elena dear, never apologize to a servant." Helena gave us a motherly smile.

"Of course. Thank you!" I was about to bow my head to her but quickly straightened. I couldn't do that either. She gave me a small smile in return.

I walked into the dining hall in my white sundress covered in blue flowers, matched with tan wedge sandals. I wasn't really short, being 5'8, but Alphas were always over six feet tall. I needed to appear as their equal, which is why I always wore some type of heel.
